25.02.2013

RWM Capital Asset Management conducted a study dedicated to the problems of establishing endowment funds in the Russian educational system. The scope of the study provided for interviewing 22 Institutions of Higher Education from the TOP-100 of major educational institutions in Russia.

The first-hand information allowed drawing conclusions on interest and preparedness of universities for establishing and forming endowment funds and demand for this financial instrument in university practice. Besides, we analyzed the demand of universities for non-budgetary financing, the current level of interaction with sponsors, also we identified the factors facilitating and causing difficulties for establishment of endowment.

"Management of endowment funds in the sphere of higher education is new, yet very important and interesting direction of business development for us, - said Felix Blinov, Managing Director of RWM Capital Asset Management. – That's exactly why we decided to directly communicate with the largest Russian Institutions of Higher Education and to find out the level of their demand for financing, the way they interact with graduates who currently sponsor them, whether they are interested at all in establishing endowments or universities believe that their activities should be supported using other means.

We are grateful to all the respondents who participated in financing study for their contribution to provision of information for the study, for their assistance in establishing an open exchange of experience and sharing opportunities to establish endowment funds in Institutions of Higher Education".
